Getting Started Tool Kit

Getting Started Tool Kit

We all have no idea where to start right? I don’t know what brokerage to sign up for, what books to read, where to look for information. This is all perfectly fine. That’s why I am here. I want to give you the tools to become a successful investor. The old saying goes give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and, you feed him for a lifetime. I want you to be able to make successful investments on your own so you don’t need my help. I will provide resources I have personally used to learn how to invest successfully.  They have helped me and I am sure they can help you too.

If you take your investing knowledge seriously you need to read. That is hands down the best way to learn. Think of each book as being mentored by a person who has been involved with investing for longer than anyone else. These people will teach you everything you need to know. All you need to do is give them a few minutes of your undivided attention. For just a few minutes you could turn that knowledge into a lot of money. Sounds like a good trade-off to me.

Check out my Book Lists, you will find plenty of titles that will satisfy your reading bug.

I also wrote a book. It is the complete beginner guide to starting and also gives a bit of insight into how I pick some of my investments. It is available on Kindle or just as a regular Ebook.

Buy My Book

Books can get pretty expensive, I use Thrift books to buy most of my books. It saves me a ton of money. (If you buy through the link you will save 15% off on your first purchase.)

Brokerage Account
We all need one but there are so many to choose from. To keep it simple I use these two brokers.

  1. TD-Ameritrade: This is my broker of choice. I currently use it and it satisfies all my needs. They recently dropped the commissions down to $6.95 a trade and they have a beginner friendly platform. They have no minimum deposit and can satisfy any investor beginner to advanced. They were also voted #1 broker for 2017. They also have apps for all types of devices.
  2.  Capital One Investing: This was my first brokerage account that I still use today. They have no minimum deposit and no fees.

Overall I love both of these. They are simple and perfect for the beginning investor.

We all need a place to find stocks to trade or to find out the market news. Below are websites I read daily in order to keep up to date with the market.

  • The Street: Jim Cramer is a stock market wizard if you ask me, I have learned so much knowledge from him that I read his website every day. What I like to do is hear his picks then dig deeper into the company to uncover more information.
  • The New York Times: News drives stock movement, reading a daily Newspaper will give you a strong feel for whats happening in the world and how it can help your stock picking. (If you purchase a subscription through this link you get 50% off for 26 weeks)

If you read these websites daily you will never miss a beat.

There you go, I have given you all the resources you will need to become a successful investor. I have done my part, go learn how to fish so you can eat for a lifetime!
